One of the components in my BTEC Performing Arts course required me to be cast, research and perform in a piece of repertoire. As part of this, I auditioned and was cast as the role of 'Sister Mary Lazarus' an comical elderly nun in the musical 'Sister Act'. We spent 6 weeks in rehearsals, and every part of the performance, from the choreography to staging to harmonies, was entirely crafted and taught by the other people in my group (I even wrote the script for the transitions between the scenes). Along side this, we researched into the characters and show, and developed individual skills such as endurance, breath control and projection, all of which was documented through a series of video diaries. I achieved Distinctions for all elements of this performance, and learnt many transferable skills - not to mention I had the most fun I have ever had doing a performance.
